#DisneySide @Home Party - Here's How!

It's finally February!!!  I am getting so excited for my #DisneySide @Home Celebration later this month!!  For those of you who missed my post last month, I was selected to host a #DisneySide celebration to help Disney unveil their new campaign, "Show Your #DisneySide!"  You might have seen some of their new commercials on television lately, encouraging people to bring the happiness and excitement of the Disney Parks into their everyday lives.

The wonderful people at Disney sent me some fantastic party starters and ideas, but here is how I'm making my party special and my own.  You might remember, I'm one of very few non-moms in this group as I will be throwing a party for my girls at work [who are between 7 and 14 years old].  Since the party will be on February 15th, I decided to make it a Valentine's Day #DisneySide party.  Additionally, many of the ladies are beginning their February vacations from school that week, so my hope is it will also feel like going on a Disney vacation!  Here is everything I've come up with so far:

Party schedule: 1. Name tag making and Disney Bingo [included in my hostess kit] as the ladies arrive  2. Ice breaker: Name Game and Hula Hoop game [here is a video of my campers doing it this past summer] 3. Indoor golf on our putting green and simulator [on Florida golf courses to go along with the vacation theme] 4. Photo booth breaks during the golf 5. Team Scattergories with prizes 6. Healthy snacks and cookie decorating 7. Arts & Crafts: Valentine Making
Now, here's how:
Photo Booth Props: I homemade the props and here's the condensed version how: Find Disney images on Google, copy them into Word, resize them so that the part you want to print fits an entire 8.5x11 page, print them out, cut out the image, trace it onto colored paper, cut them out, outline them with black marker to make them more "animated," and tape them to skewers for handles.  Then, each girl will receive some of the HP photo paper I received to print their photos.

Scattergories:  Do you have any idea how hard it is to find the Scattergories board game? Impossible!  So, I used my best friend Google to find topic ideas, made my own lists [complete with Disney-themed subjects], and laminated them.  Then, I panicked because how do you play Scattergories without the die?  Well, Google to the rescue again!  I downloaded this app, and even though it's not the same sensation as rolling a die, at least it's better than me just randomly choosing a letter.

Scattergories Prizes: What's a game without prizes?  Well, I already had almost half my prizes thanks to my #DisneySide box [those great Valentine's Mickey posters - how perfect are they for the theme??], so I only had to spend $15 for 15 more prizes from the Dollar Tree: Disney photo frames, Disney princess puzzles, Minnie notebooks, and some Sudoku books for my older girls who might not like all this Disney "stuff."

Snack Paperware and Decorations: 

Much of this was sent to me in my #DisneySide @Home Celebration kit, but when I decided on 24 girls for my party, I needed a little more supply.  The same cups and plates can be found at WalMart for less than $2 in the party section [adjacent to greeting cards].  I wasn't able to find the same table cloths, napkins, or hanging decorations, so I went to Dollar Tree and got coordinating Valentine's Day items for $1 a piece!

Snacks: - Dole Whip Punch:  Recipe shared from another #DisneySide Facebook page member.

- Fruity Magic Wands: Recipe thanks to the #DisneySide Celebrations website.  The stars will be cut out from the #DisneySide cookie cutters I received in my complimentary package.

- Yogurt cups: I am purchasing non-fat strawberry yogurt and topping each cup with a watermelon #DisneySide Mickey cutout.

- Sugar cookies: Even a healthy party needs a little fun in sugar-form!  I am making cookies with Pillsbury dough and the girls will top them with dried fruit [including the Craisins I received in my hostess kit] at the party.  The frosting will be individually put into the cupcake liners I received from #DisneySide and dried fruit will be in individual cups.

I have my own #DisneySide in the kitchen!!

Arts & Crafts: Valentine Making: More from Dollar Tree here!  We already had the crayons, pencils, glue, and card stock at work, so all of these Valentine's Day and Disney supplies were only $12!

I also went to Google images again and searched "Disney coloring pages" and found these great and free downloads!

Arts & Crafts: Disney manicures: Last but not least, for some of the older ladies who might not want to make Valentines, I found great links to Pinterest on the #DisneySide Celebrations website for nail painting.  I had some fun trying them this week and can't wait to share them with my teens!
