Sometimes I feel like this blog just isn't real life. I tend to think of myself as a "lifestyle blogger" [maybe it's because I don't have kids or blog about one specific thing], but I don't always feel like I'm actually sharing what's really going on in my life. So, I want to tell you. Don't get me wrong, I have a fantastic life, but my life at home isn't just sweets, free stuff, and flawless wedding planning. To really get in the mood, here is my "coffee date" outfit:
And because I gave up Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts for Lent, I'm happy to be writing this post from the comfort of my own home, sipping a tea in the wonderful mug
Kerry @ Till Then Smile Often sent me as a part of
Kallie's mug swap! I've had so much fun getting to know her, and she really chose the perfect mug for me to hang in my kitchen. Thank you, Kerry!
So let's sit down, grab a cup of coffee, and listen read about what's going on in my life...
How are you?! I'm doing pretty well. Work is getting pretty hectic with the golf season approaching, and I'm enjoying my last few "free" weekends before I begin working every Sunday. It gets a little frustrating working every Friday night and all day Sunday; it doesn't give Mike and I a ton of time to spend together, but I do love teaching the kids, and I figure that it's not forever! Mike is doing well, too. His work is busy, and he might be taking on a little extra part-time job doing work he enjoys, so that's exciting.
Seriously, I am soooo ready for summer! We still have like 3 inches of snow outside - it's crazy!
Wedding planning has been alright. Yeah, I know it looks like I'm ahead of the game, with everything and everyone booked, but there's a method to my madness. See, we might be moving soon. Ever since I was in college, I knew I didn't want to spend my whole life in the Northeast. I want to live somewhere else and experience something different. Mike knew this from the first month we were dating, and he's always supported my wacky plans. Well, the time has just about come. We're getting ready to go in the next year or so, probably to Florida.
So far, only two things have caused stress in the planning process. The first was people wanting to be invited to the wedding who definitely aren't... awkward... but we're inviting 230 people! It's not like we're having a small 50 person wedding where we would leave out important people and hurt feelings. How do we even know 230 people?! If you aren't on that list, you can't care that much or be that close to us, right?! The other thing that was super stressful was when David's Bridal ordered THE WRONG DRESSES for my girls. I know it doesn't look like it, but this is waaayy too much dress! There is tulle under tulle under tulle under that dress! Luckily, Mike was with me for the pickup, so he handled the re-order, while I paced around the store like Bridezilla, calling my bridesmaids to calm me down! Luckily, the new dresses are in [I think they expedited them because of their error], and they only messed up one dress size. Seriously, though, only one size? Can you tell how little I think of them, being impressed that they only messed up 1 out of 6 dresses the second time around? If you have another option, I would NOT go with DB.
Enter college gossip or high school gossip about who's getting married and who's pregnant... a must with any coffee date. Segue to: I'm also getting really excited for my bridemaid's own wedding in June! I'm a bridesmaid in her wedding, too, and I just got my dress in!
Back to this potential Florida move - you want to know what I'm thinking? Well, honestly, I just don't really know. We don't know when or where, but my guess is that a year from now, if we're not down South already, we will be packing our bags. We don't even really have a preference as to what part of Florida, where ever a job opens up, I guess! To be honest, we're not even limiting ourselves to Florida; we'd consider Georgia, or South Carolina, or Memphis, or anything. [Those are just the places with open jobs I've seen recently.] We're also trying to figure out what to do with our house when we move. We seriously love it, we've put soooo much work into it, and we do plan on coming back to CT someday, but we have no idea when! Is it worth it to rent it? Do we want to just sell it? Like I said, it's in much better condition than when Mike bought it, so hopefully it's far more appealing to people, if we do choose to sell. It's just such a cute house and there are so many memories in it!
Speaking of the house, I cannot wait to finish our last basement project. It has definitely been a lot. We haven't built a room out from studs before, and let me just tell you, the insulation, drywall, taping, mudding, etc has been crazy!
I need to be better about my wedding diet, and I know it. Everyone has a vice, and mine is definitely food. I love Mega Stuffed Oreos and Girl Scout Cookies and any homemade sweet. I've tried to stop baking as much [well, except for Mike's birthday], and I've at least been exercising almost everyday. However, my body just seems to be falling apart on me. I have plantar fasciitis in my feet, so swimming has been a chore lately, and the radial and ulner nerve damage in my left arm makes planks and many arm exercises hurt way too much as well as expedite the nerve deterioration in my arm. I also had to stop doing Insanity because it was just destroying my knees and hips. So, basically, I'm still trying my hardest, but apparently my body doesn't want me to exercise.
So yeah, that's where my life is. We're busy, we're biting off more than we can chew, I'm injured, but we're happy, very very happy.

You have plenty going on! Florida is wonderful!
All I can say is, it's YOUR wedding and you invite who YOU want. Don't worry about disappointing anyone else!
Thanks for the coffee date. Let's do it again soon. ;)
Love you, Meg. You're awesome. Can I come to visit Florida/Georgia/Memphis? Xxoo
Man I wish my own wedding planning was going so smoothly, dresses are the least of my problems, and the number of people your inviting, we are right there with you. why are wedding planners so expensive?! having one of those would be a big help.
Oh I got a DB story for ya!
Invite who you want, its your wedding! Positive to me marrying Keith is his parents are the most non-social people ever so majority of the invites were our friends and my family friends. His family was 1 table of...get ready for it...2! So I had to put people there to make it seem like they had friends. How bad is that?
Have people actually approached you about being invited to your wedding? That IS awkward, but I wouldn't worry about it too much. Like you said, if they didn't make it onto a 230-person guest list then they can't really be that close to you guys that they should actually be offended.
Hopefully I'll see you at some point before you head south!
busy lives are sometimes the best ones! i am really jealous about your move! keep us posted!
Me oh my! Lots going on in your little world! I enjoyed catching up on everything!! I didn't see Mississippi listed in that list of possible moving areas, but I know that was just a minor oversight. You moving down south will be the highlight of my year next year, I just know it! :) I can't imagine how difficult it is to decide on what to do with your house... lots of memories, but if you rent it from way down south, that's also a lot of responsibility! I can't imagine that awkward moment when someone thinks they're invited... but then they're not.... on top of that, I'm sure they wouldn't appreciate knowing that a girl you've met ONCE is invited.... oops! *sigh* hopefully one day we can actually sit down and have coffee together and catch up! Have a great weekend!
I am so glad you like your mug!! Florida sounds heavenly especially after the Winter we just had, and I am sure is better for golf year round. I can't believe DB got a dress wrong even after having to re-order. Ugh!
You deserve a Bridezilla moment if they ordered the wrong dresses... that's awful!!!
You are a busy busy lady! Sometimes thats a good thing. :)
I really liked reading this. I was just thinking the other day that there's so much I don't put on my blog. I should chat about all that…
I had plantar fasciitis in college. My ankles would actually swell up from it. Use lots of ice!
I am sooo with you! Totally ready for summer and done with this snow. My oh are going to love FL!
