The trails through The Ramble were so much fun.
Stop at Belvedere Castle
Next thing we knew it, we were halfway across the Reservoir and had walked 50 blocks [plus all of the winding through the park]. At this point, we figured we had to go the rest of the way through the park.
Conservatory Gardens and a thumbs up when we made it out on 110th Street.
As if that wasn't enough walking, we walked a few more blocks to the Subway and took it back down to the southside of the park to go to a restaurant I'd been talking about for at least a year. Has anyone ever heard of "The Best Thing I Ever Ate" on Food Network? Well, like a year ago, Emeril talked about the best veal parmesan he ever ate at this restaurant Il Vagabondo in NYC, so I needed to go and try it. Mike got the manicotti, and since it was 2:30 [we spent 5 hours walking through the park], we were the only ones in the restaurant. Everything was SO GOOD.
As we walked about to the Subway station, we ran into the Roosevelt Island Tram, so we decided to ride that across... and were the annoying tourists with cameras.
We walked another 15 or so blocks each way down to Four Freedoms Park on Roosevelt Island, and it was just beautiful.
The Sprinkles ATM on our way back to the Subway was a necessary stop.
Last, but not least, was the Yankees game. They beat the Orioles 5-0 and Jeter had 3 RBIs.
And last but not least, it wouldn't be a Meg and Mike trip if we didn't have some type of car trouble. On Sunday when we arrived, we learned that our hotel had four parking spots for what they called "secure parking." Yes, four. Well, I was not going to let that little car sit in a surface lot with our wedding gifts in it for 2 nights. So, they let us pull into the alley where the secure spots were to unload. After unpacking everything and bringing it up to our hotel room, we came back down to move the car and found it smoking, sitting in a puddle of its own coolant. Great. A radiator hose split, so there was no way we were going to be able to move it. Luckily for us, there was a repair shop across the street, but because it was 9 pm, it was obviously closed. They let us keep the car parked on the side of the secure parking overnight, then in the morning, Mike rolled it across the street to the auto mechanic. Luckily, it was done by Tuesday morning when we had to leave, but seriously, could anything else go wrong?
Oh, and in case you were wondering, something else did go wrong and we got a flat in Virginia... And they lived happily ever after.

A minimoon sounds fun! We went on our honeymoon the day after our wedding (our in-laws booked us a cruise!), and while that was fun, we were both so exhausted anyways that the first two days all we did was SLEEP, so going later is a better idea in my book, anyway :)
What a fun trip! I've been to NYC, but my husband hasn't. I hope we can figure out a time to go together.
Ugh, so sorry about your car troubles!
I absolutely love NYC, we took a train there from NC and it was amazing! :)
I want a cupcake ATM on every corner! It's only right!
Look at all that cream cheese on that bagel.. YUM!!!!
I love this. As a NY girl I love that you did a mini honey moon in NYC. How was the game?!?!? I love the cupcake ATM. I need those late at night when a craving strikes.
Days in NYC are so fun! I can't believe y'all walked that far in the park! It's so pretty though so I don't blame you!
So glad there was a shop right where you were!
Looks like a great minimoon!
Cupcake ATM?! Say what?! Looks so beautiful. Looks like you had a blast!
This looks like such a fun trip. As someone else who had a mini-moon, I loved that we got a few days away to relax and be married. We still haven't planned our full honeymoon yet, but we might be buying a house instead...so...there's that!
We also took a mini-moon. We decided that it was the best option to do because we wanted to enjoy being married for a few days before we had to get back to work! We said in 5 or 10 years we will go on a real honeymoon. :)

What a fun minimoon! You two are serious walkers- I hope you ate whatever you wanted!! :)
What a great trip! I am so glad you guys made it to the gardens-- I was there for the first time this summer and they were so beautiful, but it seems like most people never make it up that high into the park! Ahhh so sorry about your car troubles :( glad you were able to get it fixed!
Sounds like a fun weekend, aside from the being Yankees fans and car trouble.
Such a fun little thing to do right after the wedding! I love the idea of a road trip for a honeymoon, so this is right up my alley!
I love these pics. You are glowing!
Yay for minimoon fun in NYC! We just got married this weekend, but aren't leaving for our honeymoon until next week. We had to drive back from our wedding location to NY where were live, but it did feel weird being back at work before we took our trip. Looks like you both had a wonderful time!! Glad you were able to have some fun in the city before heading back home!
Sorry about the car troubles, but otherwise sounds like a perfect trip.cant wait to see the wedding pics!
