Hey y'all! Happy Presidents Day! I hope some of you are enjoying an extra day off to recuperate from the epicness of last night's SNL 40. Oh moly, I have never laughed so hard in my life. Even though the weekend's not over, I still wanted to say hey and recap the weekend so far. Mike's dad is here, so we've been doing tons of extra tourist-y things, and obviously, it was also Valentine's, so I received some beautiful flowers, a homemade card, and in return I planned a pretty awesome date night (if I do say so myself) and gave him us a gift of a jet ski safari to use this summer.
As for the weekend, we headed out to Kiawah after work on Friday for appetizers and drinks at the Ryder Cup Bar at the Ocean Course and watched the sunset at the Sanctuary Hotel.
Saturday, we spent the day downtown and walked like 6 miles around town: lower King Street, the Market, back to Marion Square for SEWE, up to HoM, down to the Battery, back up the the Market, and through all of my favorite narrow streets (Charlestonians - do that one in your head haha). I'm happy to report that spring has sprung in Charleston and we spotted the first flowering trees of 2015!
amazing Birds of Prey show at SEWE! |
After our downtown adventure, we headed out to our date. Last year Mike's surprise was drinks, roller blading, and dinner. Somehow I needed to top that this year. I found an awesome couples deal at Wild Blue Ropes, a high ropes adventure park on James Island. He was SHOCKED because I was super nervous about going to a new place and being 35' feet off the ground, but it was seriously amazing, and I cannot wait to go back! They also had a food truck and fire. We did the challenge course obstacles for a couple hours, ate some food, drank some beers by the fire, and ended the night with some hot and heart-shaped Kripsy Kremes - perfect, right?
And, that's it! Linking up for Weekend Recap, Weekending, and Monday Madness!
