Happy Veteran's Day to all of our military men and women! I am so grateful to all of you who have made our country what it is today. Growing up, Veteran's Day always had a big town-wide parade, and on the way home, we popped in the first Christmas tape of the season. Yes, my parents made up this artificial day to start Christmas music season, probably because they knew I would have started listening to it on constant repeat in August. I've been trying hard to avoid Christmas music until now (even though it's been on the radio for over a week), but today, the Pandora station comes back to the top of the list, and I preset as many Christmas stations as possible in the Jeep. It also seemed fitting to get my first red cupped caramel brulee latte! (PSA: tomorrow through Sunday is Starbucks's annual buy one get one on all holiday drinks from 2:00-5:00 each day!)
And just because it's topical... putting my two cents in about this Starbucks cup ridiculousness. I love the following tweet (about trolling Starbucks by telling them your name is "Merry Christmas") from this Buzzfeed article: "Which is dumber, thinking there's a war on Christmas, or protesting a company by buying its products?"
While Christmas music season starts today, there was never any Christmas decorating until the day after Thanksgiving when I was younger. My mom always had the cutest little pilgrims and turkey decorations, and on Black Friday, we always got up early to chop down our tree and as soon as we got home, my mom took down all of the autumn pieces while I unwrapped the Christmas ornaments and my dad strung the lights on the tree.
Now, it seems like everyone is going Christmas crazy so early! My childhood friends always thought we were nuts for having our tree up in November. Now, I walk through Charleston and everything is decorated and my neighbors are starting to put their trees up. Even living in the South, we still love getting a real tree, so we will wait a couple of weeks for that, but as I take down the Halloween-specific decorations, it's been fun to add a few Christmas (but more wintery) accents. I found these fun pieces that will fit in nicely with my pumpkins, leaves, and fall berries so that our apartment is constantly decorated through the full-on start of Christmas season after Thanksgiving.
And if you want to see even more "favorite things," click here to check out Oprah's! I love that her whole list is on Amazon this year.
- When do you start decorating for Christmas?
- What's your favorite seasonal Starbucks drink?

I cant even believe how dumb it is to complain about cups...cups for pete's sake!! I could go on and on but I'll stop!! We start decorating the day after Thanksgiving but this year might have to take it up a week since we'll be gone that weekend lol! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston
i love the color palette on this! so pretty and makesme wanna decorate!
It saddens me that we live in a country that starts a big hooplah over something as stupid as the cups at Starbucks, it's seriously what we've come to. And thanks for the heads up about the BOGO drinks this weekend! My family always went to go chop down a tree the day after Thanksgiving too, so I keep my fall decor up until Thanksgiving, and decorate for Christmas on Black Friday too <3

I decorate on Thanksgiving... cant wait to get all my stuff up - dread doing it though.
I'm not a fan of the holiday flavors but I do think everything tastes better in the red cup :)
I have yet to listen to Christmas music and I'm trying to hold off a little bit longer. haha.
I used to wait until the 1st of December to decorate for Christmas, but now I put my Christmas tree up on Thanksgiving. There's something nice about eating dinner with the family with a beautifully decorated and lit tree. I used to think people were crazy to start decorating right after Halloween, but truthfully Christmas only comes once a year and if you want to celebrate it for a couple of months then why not? Also, the cups thing is ridiculous.
I'm not prepared for Christmas season yet, but maybe soon haha. Dave's brother is coming over this weekend to get all of our christmas decorations out (since dave can't walk yet and there are Spiders in our garage, I am not about to do it) so I might start slowly next week. We will be away from black Friday to the following Monday, so I would like to have some things up before then. and YES to the Caramel Brûlée.
I normally start decorating for Christmas some time after Thanksgiving. It still feels too early right now! Same goes with Christmas music - I'm just not ready!
I can do the Christmas songs early, but the decorations... No, I just can't. It's been tradition for us too, to enjoy Thanksgiving first. I have a few decorations up for Thanksgiving. We keep up our Christmas things into January so I think that helps us not bring anything out yet. Xo
We've always waited until the day after Thanksgiving to start decorating for Christmas. We were down on Kiawah two years ago for the day after Thanksgiving and you know what? That's the day that the Sanctuary began pulling out their decorations & put up their tree... so if the Sanctuary abides by that schedule too, I think we're good to go with it!
I don't think I'll start decorating until after Thanksgiving.. still waiting on the leaves to fall haha! Also I end up keeping my wintery decor up through January so I don't want to get too tired of it. LOOOVE your picks though! I'm definitely into the whole silvery-white theme this year.
I am a fan of the gingerbread latte, and I didn't know that the buy one get one deal had started yet, so thank you! Also, I love those decorations, especially that throw pillow!
I'm excited for Christmas/my favorite time of year. The ice bucket is super cute...
I'm a fan of the chestnut praline...okay, not just a fan, I'm OBSESSED! And I love that snowflake trivet! I put it on the Christmas gift ideas list!
We won't start decorating until after Thanksgiving but I am listening to Christmas Pandora for the first time today and it is making me SO happy!
I'm in the decorate for Christmas beginning on November 1st club... I know most people disagree, but i've never been a big fan of Thanksgiving and I'd rather enjoy all of my holiday decorations and holiday cheer for as long as possible since it has to come down after Christmas-- and December goes by SO fast! Anyway, loooove all of that holiday decor, I've had a small obsession with holiday throw pillows this year!
I think I'm going to head to Target this weekend for Christmas decorations. I hear they have some really cute stuff this year! My husband and I have a rule that we don't do any Christmas decorating after Thanksgiving tho!
