Charleston Eats: Tavern and Table

Even though this has been a short week, I still feel like it's dragging!  Anyone else??  I cannot wait for Friday happy hour, and the place I'm sharing today is definitely one of my afternoon favorites.  Tavern and Table has been open for less than two years but has very quickly become a staple here in Charleston!  There is almost always a line to be seated and online reservations for peak times go quickly.  Trust me, it's worth the wait!  T&T's waterfront spot, right on Shem Creek in Mount Pleasant, has some of the best dining views in the city.
Their interior is perfectly Lowcountry-rustic with gorgeous wood floors and exposed beams as well as bright and airy furniture and fabrics that make the dining rooms feel so welcoming.  With different levels of seating both indoors and out, there are views of the creek from almost every table.
While T&T is open for lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch, my absolute favorite time to be there is for happy hour.  They serve their full menu with everything from house-ground burgers to a variety of seafood entrees, but I usually stick to the first few pages of the menu.  To start, their cocktail creations are delicious, and I highly recommend anything fruity - so fresh and refreshing.  Then there are the appetizers: cheese & meats, snacks, small plates, and those "from the brick oven."
We actually first heard about Tavern and Table at the Mac and Cheese Fest a couple years back.  Their Burnt End Mac & Cheese was my absolute favorite at the festival, and it does not disappoint on their "small plates" menu.  Other favorites include the skillet cornbread, pimento cheese & bacon jam, and crab & artichoke dip.  You cannot go wrong - order 3-4 items and share, that's my suggestion!
Last but not least, you can't forget the dessert.  If you're not too stuffed, the s'mores dessert is delicious.  Homemade marshmallow is always a favorite of mine!
Tavern and Table is definitely the place to go for delicious seaside dining.  After you've enjoyed all that delicious food, make sure you take a walk along the creek and enjoy the sea salt-filled air.

Love T&T and their pimento & bacon jam for an app! We went there to get champagne after we got engaged because we didn't know what else to do, ha! The best is when you manage to snag a seating area outside (and it's not 100 outside).

I'm going to come crash on your couch just to eat real pimento cheese, haha. I had it at a restaurant here (one owned by the Broadmoor), and they used cream cheese as the base. Sacrelig.
