This was the third time we'd been out there in our six years together, and we love always trying to do something different. The last two trips were adventures to San Francisco and Lake Tahoe, but with a super quick trip this go-around, we decided to stay close to Sacramento with an afternoon you might have seen on Insta around Old Sac. Mike's aunt was the best tour guide and showed us all around this little corner of the city, along the river. I was happily surprised to see Christmas decorations already decorating each building. Being the history nerd that I am, I was so intrigued by the differences between their historical district and all of Charleston. Both cities are "stuck" in the mid-1800s, but the difference in architecture between the "Old West" out there and Caribbean influences here is really cool to see.
And, of course, you know that there was plenty of In-N-Out Burger enjoyed and time spent watching the amazing sunsets from their yard. It was the perfect weekend getaway before the craziness of the holiday season begins. We're already planning our next trip out there, hopefully in the spring to check another ballpark off our MLB bucket list!

So cool that you guys were able to make the quick trip. I've always heard such nice things about Sacramento-- I definitely see the old west vibes. So cool!
A weekend trip out to California is always a good idea :) Glad y'all got to spend a quick 36 hours exploring Sacramento before all of the holiday craziness begins.
I love Sacramento! I visited there several years ago and it had such a charm about it.
No trip out west is complete without a trip to In-N-Out Burger! Sounds like you guys fit a lot in in a short amount of time but it sounds like a perfect trip! <3, Pamela Sequins & Sea Breezes
I have never been to Sacramento, but it looks beautiful! To be honest the only thing I know about that area is that supposedly it is where the Even Stevens family lived haha. LOVE In-N-Out, why has it not made the way to the East Coast yet?!
Gorgeous pics! Palm trees, oranges, and fall foliage is a fall perfection trifecta!

I loved the fact that California got fall weather too! It looks like y'all had a great visit, and I think that it's so cool that Sacramento has an old and historic part of town either!
I'm not a burger fan but everyone I know who travels out that way or down to Texas usually has one so I feel like I need to at least eat the fries and say I've gone when we have the time next time.
Cute little trip!
You've got me reminiscing about my time in Sacramento now. we stopped through on our way to Lake Tahoe after leaving NAPA. It's a tiny town, but it's the cutest-looks like a great weekend visiting family

What a great visit! Now I'm craving in & out - but the trip looks like such fun!
Sacramento is one of the places in CA that I've been dying to explore! Looks like you had perfect weather and amazing scenery! So many different people have told me to try In and Out Burger when I'm over on the west coast and I never got around to it. So funny you love it just as much!
Glad you had a great weekend!! I've never been before.
Wow, it looks so beautiful and colorful there! And obviously In & Out Burger is a highlight. I had to explain it to my Mother-in-law this past weekend and now she wants to go to one.
What a fun trip! I've never been to Sacramento, but I love a good west coast trip. I've already got two planned for next year and can't wait!
