Five More Wisconsin Adventures

Happy Friday, everyone!  I hope y'all had a great week.  Ours was wet and cold, but the sun is finally out, just in time for our weekend guests.  We can't wait to do all of our favorite touristy things this weekend with them.  Last week, I shared my top 5 favorites about Milwaukee from our recent trip to Wisconsin, and today I'm excited to share the second half of our vacation.  After two days in Milwaukee, we packed up the car, picked up a friend in Appleton, and drove north to Green Bay.  When in Wisconsin, we can't not go to Lambeau, right?!  That night, we went down to Madison, where we stayed for the last twos days of our trip.  Here are five favorite adventures from the second half of our Midwest adventure:

Green Bay...

1. Lambeau and Titletown: Like I said, Wisconsin (to me) means Lambeau Field and the Packers.  When we were in Denver last year, we loved taking a tour of Mile High, and, unfortunately, we know that our baseball bucket list means we'll really never be in cities during football season, so this is the next best thing.  To be honest, though, I'll take a tour in 70 degree weather over a game in -20 degree weather in Green Bay!  After our tour, the guide suggested Titletown Brewing, and it did not disappoint.  If you go, make sure you visit The Cannery fresh market right next door, too!  Their cheese curds were amazing.

Down to Madison...

2. Capitol Building: This place is beautiful.  Right in the center of the city, it's open daily to check out the stunning architecture and exhibits about the history of the state.  While we were there, it was also the finish line for a city half marathon.

3. UW campus & the Terrace: Right down State Street from the Capitol is the UW campus.  It was seriously beautiful to walk around, and right on the lake, there was even a student union called the Terrace that served pitchers of beer, food, and ice cream on the water.  Everyone in the city goes there to hang out during the summer, and we played cards for a couple of hours.  What a unique place for a college to have!

4. Summer festivals: Apparently Wisconsin is known for its festivals, and we were lucky enough to be in town for Brat Fest.  The Budweiser Clydesdales were there, we ate our weight in beer and brats, and listened to music on three stages.  I would love to go back for the Beer, Bacon, and Cheese Festival, Summer Fest, or Rock Fest!

5. State Street: Using Rocketmiles (FYI if you have an airline credit card, this is the BEST booking site - thousands of extra miles just for booking with them), we found a hotel right next door to the Capitol.  We loved the Park Hotel, and it was the perfect location to walk everywhere.  The bars and restaurants on State Street are great (fancy coffee at Michelangelo's and mac and cheese pizza at Ian's - yes!), and it's really the center of everything.
